This was a sold out show.

We were in a rush yesterday closing out the Day 1 report from WWE in Tokyo. After the main event, Cody Rhodes was given the classic red robe and cap that Dusty Rhodes used to wear in the late 1970s. The picture of Cody wearing it in the ring was all over social media yesterday. Dusty wore it before his match against NWF Champion Antonio Inoki at a New Japan Pro Wrestling show on November 1, 1979. Inoki retained the title when Rhodes tried to illegally use feet on the ropes but the referee caught him. The referee was then accidentally bumped in the ring corner. While the referee was down, Rhodes knocked Inoki over the top rope and out of the ring with the Bionic Elbow. The referee got to his feet and called for the bell to end the match.
Yesterday was also the date that Dusty Rhodes pinned NWA World Champion Ric Flair to win the title in a Steel Cage Match on The Great American Bash Tour 1986 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Flair would win it back from Dusty on August 9, 1986 in St. Louis.
Today’s show was listed as a 5pm bell time but it ended up being delayed until 5:30pm and some fans were not happy about having to wait. Lots of videos ads were shown including the upcoming Netflix series “The Queen of Villains” based on the career of Dump Matsumoto.
Byron Saxton was the ring announcer.
